According to the “Wall Street Journal”, despite Donald Trump’s statements that the war will end soon, high-level White House advisors have warned the US President that the crisis with Iran could extend until the end of his term.
“Elchi” reports that Vice President J.D. Vance and Secretary of State Marco Rubio presented their assessments to Donald Trump during meetings held in the Oval Office and the White House Situation Room.
Officials stated that the Tehran administration could continue its resistance against American pressure despite naval blockades and military operations.
This assessment has raised the possibility that the conflict could continue until January 2029.
The discussions intensified after Trump claimed immediately after the November midterm elections that the war would end and that Iran would not be able to hold out for much longer.
Attack on US base in Jordan
At the same time, mutual retaliatory measures between the parties continue. As a result of night-time attacks on the “Muwaffaq Salti” airbase in Jordan, several US military aircraft were damaged.
During the attack, an A-10 “Thunderbolt” aircraft, known as the “Warthog”, was severely damaged and lost a wing. Approximately eight F-15 fighter jets sustained minor damage.
During the attack, US forces in Jordan fired more than 30 “Patriot” missiles to protect the base and personnel.
It was noted that this retaliatory measure occurred after Washington carried out an operation against five tankers linked to Iran.
