Warning from Kadyrov: “Put an end to the trend of long beards and rolled-up trousers”

The head of Chechnya, Ramzan Kadyrov, has called on men in the republic not to turn the practice of growing long beards and wearing shortened trousers into a fashion trend that young people are beginning to imitate.

“Elchi” reports that he stated this during a meeting with the heads of the region’s law enforcement agencies.

“We have men walking around with very long beards. At the same time, they do not attend collective Friday prayers, do not visit mosques, and spend days wandering the avenues wasting time. They have turned long beards and rolled-up trousers into an incomprehensible fashion, and the rising generation is starting to imitate them. I appeal to them: shorten your beards and keep them in accordance with religion,” Kadyrov said at the meeting with the heads of security structures.

The regional head also noted that some women have adopted a style of dress not characteristic of the republic and have “started to cover themselves completely.”

“They should also be urged to dress in accordance with Islam without adopting the Arab style of clothing. We have never worn the chador here,” Kadyrov added.
