From now on, stem cell transplantation will also be performed in specialized medical institutions that carry out the transplantation of donor organs in Azerbaijan.
“Elchi” reports that Prime Minister Ali Asadov has signed relevant decisions in this regard.
According to the decision, the “List of medical institutions carrying out the removal, preparation, storage, transportation, import, and export of donor organs,” approved by the Decision of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Azerbaijan No. 235 dated August 20, 2021, has been improved, and some adjustments have been made to the document.
According to the amendment, the words “stem cells” have been added after the word “lung” in the thirteenth line of the relevant list.
Within the framework of the legal regulation, the powers of the “Baku Medical Plaza” clinic have also been expanded. With the new decision, the mentioned medical institution has been granted the right to organize the removal, preparation, storage, transportation, import, and export of stem cells, in addition to performing their transplantation.
