Terrible statistics in Congo: Ebola epidemic mortality rate reached 48%

In the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), the number of laboratory-confirmed deaths from Ebola fever has increased by 41 in a day, reaching 3,267.

The total number of Ebola cases in the DRC is 6,757, with 71 new cases detected in the last 24 hours. The mortality rate has reached 48.3%.

There are 813 people with symptoms of the disease in hospitals and medical isolation units. The contact tracing rate for individuals infected with Ebola has reached 88.3%.

The outbreak that began on May 15 in the DRC and Uganda has become the second-largest epidemic in terms of the number of deaths in the entire history of the disease in Africa. Currently, the fever has been recorded in six provinces of Congo, with its epicenter located in the Ituri province. However, no new Ebola cases have been recorded in the South Kivu province for the last 98 days.

Ugandan authorities declared the end of the Ebola outbreak in the country on July 28. On August 25, the World Health Organization confirmed that the epidemic in Uganda had ended.
