On Tuesday, Canada’s tariffs on approximately $20 billion worth of imports from the US came into effect.
“Elchi” reports that this information was published by “The Globe and Mail”.
These measures were a response to the 50% tariffs on $20 billion worth of Canadian goods that the US implemented on August 22. Prior to this, trade negotiations between Ottawa and Washington had ended in failure.
Canada’s tariffs apply to 629 types of products, including household appliances, electronics, metals, and clothing. The tariff rates generally range from 25% to 50%, with 15% being rare.
“The Globe and Mail” adds that Washington has already promised to respond to these tariffs, so a further escalation of the trade conflict between the US and Canada is possible.
