Uber plans to cut 10% of its global workforce

The American company “Uber Technologies Inc.”, which provides taxi booking and food delivery services, intends to cut its global workforce by 3,300 people, or approximately 10%, as part of a large-scale restructuring aimed at reducing management levels.

According to elchi, Uber CEO Dara Khosrowshahi stated in a letter to employees that the number of managers in the company will decrease by 20% during the restructuring. The letter was obtained by Bloomberg agency.

The company will halve the number of teams consisting of one or two employees and merge certain departments.

The funds saved as a result of the layoffs will be directed by the company toward growing the business in key areas, as well as increasing the wages of drivers, couriers, and vendors.

Uber shares rose by 2% in pre-market trading on Wednesday. Since the beginning of the year, the company’s capitalization has decreased by 7.9% to $153.7 billion.
