“After US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said that the US could not be a mediator in the settlement process, we met on July 23 in Manila within the framework of ASEAN events. Later, about a month ago, he stated that the US is interested in resolving the Ukraine crisis, but new approaches need to be sought. Russia is ready to listen to new approaches. In the meantime, we are continuing the work ‘on the ground’,” Lavrov said.
He emphasized that Russia is always ready for negotiations, but will not declare a ceasefire during the negotiation period. Fire will only be stopped when a full and long-term settlement is reached.
