The large-scale cyberattack on Berlin’s state network was carried out by the notorious “Rhysida” hacker group, which is demanding 30 bitcoins (approximately 2 million euros) from the authorities and threatening to leak stolen data if the demand is refused.

Information about the demand was posted on the “Rhysida” page on the darknet, where the group publishes its victims’ data. The hackers claim to have stolen approximately 6 terabytes of data during the attack.
In addition, a countdown timer has been activated on the page. As of August 28, it indicated that Berlin had about a week left to make the payment.
According to the hackers, the stolen data may include information related to approximately 80,000 administrative offense cases, over 46,500 contracts, court documents, information about critical infrastructure facilities, emergency response plans, and approximately 6,000 files containing passwords and login credentials.
