It has been reported that the Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Qatar, Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, will visit Tehran today to meet with Iranian officials to hold talks regarding the Strait of Hormuz.
elchi reports that the spokesperson for the Qatari Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Majed Al-Ansari, stated in a social media post that Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani will hold talks in Tehran, the capital of Iran, today. Al-Ansari noted that Al Thani will hold a series of meetings with Iranian officials and that the discussions will focus on reducing tensions and preparing the ground for dialogue.
Al-Ansari emphasized Qatar’s unwavering position that the only solution to disputes is diplomacy and dialogue, adding: “Al Thani will also discuss the issue of freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz and the return of passages through the Strait of Hormuz to the status quo prior to February 28.”
