Death toll from floods in India’s Assam state reaches 100

The death toll from floods caused by heavy rains in India’s northeastern state of Assam has reached 100.
“Elchi” reports that, according to news in the Indian press, the Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA) announced that two more people have died in the floods that occurred in the state over the last 24 hours.
Thus, the number of deaths in the state has reached 100.
Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma stated in a post on the US-based X social media platform that more than 1.1 million people in 25 districts of the state have been affected by the floods.
It was reported that heavy rains and floods have also caused significant damage to the state’s infrastructure, and 16,951 hectares of agricultural land across the state have been submerged.
Monsoon rains, which are effective in South Asia between June and September, cause large-scale natural disasters and accidents in the region every year, especially in India and Pakistan.
