“Politico”: The US is increasing the number of its intelligence forces in Cuba

In recent months, the US has increased the number of its intelligence forces in Cuba, exerting pressure on the country’s authorities to implement reforms or resign.

According to “Elchi”, “Politico” reported this, citing sources.

It is noted that such steps could be taken ahead of various scenarios—ranging from attempts to incite Cuban officials and citizens to oppose the government, to a possible US military operation. One source described the strengthening of intelligence as an important tactical move that could theoretically lay the groundwork for military intervention, while emphasizing that there are no concrete plans as of yet.

“Politico’s” interlocutor stated that the administration of US President Donald Trump intends to use all traditional tools, including the resources of the intelligence community, to achieve changes in Cuba.

Although Trump previously stated that Washington was not planning military operations against Cuba and that it would collapse on its own, he later toughened his rhetoric.

Havana, for its part, has begun preparations to repel a possible intervention.

It was previously reported that the Washington administration plans to change the government in Cuba by the end of 2026. The US is also exerting pressure on the island through an oil blockade. Shortly after its implementation, Havana faced economic and energy crises.
