Who is eligible for social leave?

Working women are granted 126 calendar days of paid leave during pregnancy and the postnatal period (70 calendar days before birth and 56 calendar days after birth).

This information was provided to “Elchi” by the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of the Population.

It was noted that the duration of the prenatal part of the mentioned leave is extended with pay by the number of days from the expected date of birth until the actual day of birth, and in this case, the postnatal part of the leave is not shortened.

Women who adopt a child under the age of two months also have the right to use the 56-day paid social leave established for the postnatal period.

Men, in connection with the birth of their child, are granted a total of 14 calendar days of paid leave during the prenatal and postnatal period based on a certificate from a medical institution.

One of the parents directly caring for the child (including women who adopt a child), or another member of the family, has the right to receive partially paid social leave with an allowance determined by legislation to care for the child until the child reaches the age of three.
