A specially designed Airbus A350-1000ULR passenger aircraft belonging to Qantas Airways took off from Melbourne and landed in Toulouse, France, after flying non-stop for 24 hours and 24 minutes.
elchi reports that this has broken the record for the longest flight ever performed by a commercial passenger aircraft.
Equipped with additional fuel tanks, the aircraft crossed the Pacific and Atlantic oceans, covering a distance of 23,075 kilometers without landing. During the flight, approximately 3.6 million people tracked the aircraft’s route live.
For information, Qantas plans to start direct flights between Sydney and London in 2027. To this end, the company has ordered 12 modified Airbus A350-1000ULR aircraft. The first aircraft is expected to be delivered in April 2027, and daily direct flights between Sydney and London are expected to begin in October of the same year.
