France strengthens security on the border with Spain amid the migrant crisis

French President Emmanuel Macron has ordered the deployment of aircraft and drones on the border with Spain against the backdrop of a large-scale influx of migrants into Ceuta.

“Elchi” reports that Macron wrote about this on his “X” social media account.

“I have instructed the Minister of the Interior to strengthen control at our border with Spain if necessary: four units of mobile forces, aircraft, and drones have been deployed,” Macron stated.

He clarified that the free movement regime within the Schengen zone does not apply to Ceuta. He also expressed solidarity with Spain amid the escalating situation regarding migrants.

It should be noted that on July 31, tens of thousands of illegal migrants from Morocco broke into the Spanish city of Ceuta, which led the authorities to deploy the army to the city. Some attempted to reach the country by swimming and drowned. The bodies of 57 people were found on the shore.
