According to a study conducted in the USA, slightly increasing the daily walking speed of people over 60 can help maintain their physical capabilities.
“Elchi” reports, citing medicina.az, that older people who took about 14 more steps per minute covered a longer distance in a six-minute walking test.
The study involved 102 people over the age of 60. During the four-month program, a noticeable improvement in walking ability was observed in participants who walked faster.
Experts state that walking slightly faster can strengthen the heart, muscles, and balance system. However, it is recommended that older individuals increase their physical activity in accordance with their health condition.
