In Azerbaijani science, many are familiar with Saadat khanim’s scientific work. Her academic activity and the path she has taken are known to everyone. Because a teacher is the true guide of their student, and a real teacher is the person who is the teacher of their student.
When I was admitted to the master’s program, they said I would choose a topic, have a scientific supervisor, and work with them. We have all been students; when I found out that Saadat khanim was appointed as my scientific supervisor, I started a small “reconnaissance.” Whoever I asked, everyone said the same thing: “You will have to work very hard,” “She is very serious.” To be honest, in many universities in our country, master’s education is not properly valued even by the students themselves. Like everyone else, I had embarked on this path without fully understanding what I would encounter. When I first met Saadat khanim, I had a strange anxiety inside me. But her way of starting the conversation and asking what topic I was interested in immediately gave me hope. I said I loved Sabir’s work. Saadat khanim made other suggestions, but although I did not directly oppose them, with her delicate teacher’s intuition, she understood what was in my heart and gave me a topic from Sabir’s work.

Every memory of a dear teacher,
Will always sound on our tongues.
From that day on, my dear teacher began to teach me: she taught me step by step the skills of choosing sources relevant to the topic, working with card catalogs, dealing with archives, as well as systematizing existing knowledge into a scientific form. By working repeatedly on my essays, which were at an ordinary level, she brought them to such a level that even I could not believe what I had written. Naturally, it was difficult at first. Lack of age and experience made me think some things were unnecessary and redundant. But Saadat khanim’s experience and professionalism slowly guided me in the right direction. Although it feels good to the human ego to cut corners and skip things, after not seeing any success as a result, you realize that such comfort is also a torment. Of course, it is God who grants every success, but I think the main reason for my continuing my education was Saadat khanim’s supervision. Therefore, I consider Saadat khanim’s supervision on this path as a blessing from God for myself.
Sometimes we would finish the class hour,
Then we would rush to the next class,
There are such people, they are a gift..
From God’s grace to His servant.
There are teachers for whom seriousness and sincerity do not intersect in their character. The aspect of Saadat khanim that impressed me the most is her masterful combination of academic seriousness and human sincerity. Sometimes I hesitated to ask something, thinking she might react harshly, but her politeness, way of explaining, beautiful style, and enthusiasm for teaching would immediately come to my mind, and I would ask my questions without hesitation. Saadat khanim loves to teach; she just wants someone to ask her something, to want to learn something. When I thanked her for the answer to every question I asked, I saw a strange joy in her eyes. Because she was sure that her answer was as precise as her intention was pure. There cannot be an unclear point in her presence, and if there is, it will immediately become clear in Saadat khanim’s explanation. Therefore, as time passed, I felt compelled to listen to Saadat khanim more. Sometimes there were environments where, even if there was no moment to talk to Saadat khanim or get advice, just being in the same environment felt comfortable and had a pleasant effect.
It is an irreplaceable feeling for a person to have their teacher value them and rejoice in their successes. Saadat khanim knows how to sincerely rejoice in the success of others. Because she knows that if someone succeeds, it means science also succeeds. And that is enough to make her happy. No matter how much I am at the beginning of the road, no matter how small steps I take, she highly appreciates all my efforts and applauds every small success of mine. When I think that these kind words were said by Saadat khanim, I understand that these are not words said just to be polite or encouraging, but true value. A person’s rejoicing in the success of others is one of the indicators of maturity, and Saadat khanim has a large share of this maturity.
Along with all this, Saadat khanim is also always remembered for her courage. She has always touched upon current issues and problems affecting the development of science, and not only touched upon them but also proposed solutions. Whatever a true devotee of science should be like, Saadat khanim’s position has always shown this.
In the end, I ask God to make Saadat khanim’s life blessed. May she always be a leader for each of us with her substantial research and exemplary character. May she be destined to obtain the best of everything she desires.
