Legislative acts providing for the full digitalization of the process of extending the temporary stay period of foreigners and stateless persons in Azerbaijan have been approved.
elchi reports that the State Migration Service (SMS) has released information regarding this.
It was stated that, in accordance with the new amendment to the legislation, the service for extending the temporary stay period in Azerbaijan provided by the SMS to foreigners and stateless persons has been fully digitized, while maintaining the option for physical application.
“As a result of this service, the paper-based version of the decision on the extension of the temporary stay period in Azerbaijan provided to individuals has been abolished.
Thus, the decision to extend the temporary stay period of foreigners and stateless persons in Azerbaijan will now be prepared in the form of an electronic document and, after the state fee is paid, will be transmitted to the E-Government Information System for placement in the applicant’s electronic cabinet. At the same time, the decision will be sent to the email address provided by the applicant.
In addition, with the new amendments, decisions on the extension of the temporary stay period issued on paper to date will retain their legal force until the expiration date indicated on them. In cases where these decisions are lost, destroyed, become unusable, or if the information in the identity documents of the foreigner or stateless person changes, they will be prepared electronically and transmitted to the E-Government Information System for placement in the applicant’s electronic cabinet without the requirement of paying a state fee, and will also be sent to the applicant’s email address.
The adopted innovations aim to increase the efficiency of administrative procedures by simplifying them, in addition to organizing life-event-based migration services in a more flexible, accessible, and citizen-oriented manner,” the statement noted.
