Zelensky called on Ukrainians to prepare for a very difficult winter.
elchi reports that in an interview with Sky News, President Volodymyr Zelensky called on Ukrainians to prepare for a “very difficult winter” that could be worse than any before.
“First of all, we must prepare for a very difficult winter. No one can imagine what it will be like. It could be difficult, even worse. It will depend on our partners and on us,” Zelensky said.
He stated this in his comment regarding the appointment of former Naftogaz head Sergey Koretsky as Prime Minister. As the head of state noted, Ukraine needs a Prime Minister who understands the upcoming challenges and “focuses on energy issues.”
Volodymyr Zelensky had previously stated that he was “completely dissatisfied” with the country’s winter preparations. He noted that Ukraine must prepare its “winter plans,” and that was exactly what he wanted to achieve by appointing Sergey Koretsky as the country’s new Prime Minister.
On July 20, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen spoke with the Prime Minister of Ukraine, after which she stated that Kyiv could count on Europe’s “full support” in preparing for winter. They also discussed the issue of arms production for Ukraine.
