ICC Prosecutor Karim Khan has been removed from office

The Assembly of States Parties of the International Criminal Court (ICC) has voted to remove Prosecutor Karim Khan from his position.

“Elchi” reports that this information was released by Reuters and Associated Press agencies, citing sources.

According to the report, 82 out of the 125 member states of the ICC voted in favor of his removal. However, all warrants issued during Khan’s tenure remain in effect, as only judges can revoke them.

In October 2024, Karim Khan was accused of misconduct by one of his staff members. During the investigation, the ICC placed him on unpaid leave, and in practice, he has not been performing his duties as prosecutor since May 2025.

Khan had held the position of Prosecutor of the International Criminal Court since June 2021.
