According to the forecast of the National Hydrometeorological Service, hot, dry, and windy weather conditions will continue in Azerbaijan in the coming days, which increases the risk of fires in forests and other natural areas.
elchi reports that the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources (MENR) has released information regarding this matter.
It was stated that forest fires lead to the destruction of trees and vegetation, damage to the habitats of wild animals, the degradation of the fertile soil layer, and the disruption of ecological balance.
It was noted that the restoration of ecosystems damaged by fire can take many years.
The Ministry recommends that citizens refrain from lighting fires in forests and surrounding areas, not to throw unextinguished cigarette butts into nature, not to burn dry grass, bushes, or household waste, and not to leave glass or other waste that could cause a fire in the area.
Citizens are requested to immediately inform the relevant authorities if they observe any signs of smoke or fire.
The MENR stated that a small act of negligence can lead to the burning of large areas, the destruction of flora and fauna, as well as long-term damage to nature, and has called on the public to strictly follow fire safety rules.
