The trial on the appeal filed against the verdict of Ilduza Hajiyeva, a tiktoker known as “Arzum 9999” who is accused of causing a fatal car accident in the capital’s Khazar district, has begun.
elchi reports that the legal successor and representative of the victim did not attend the hearing held today at the Baku Court of Appeal, presided over by Judge Elnur Nuriyev.
Defense lawyers filed a motion requesting that Ilduza Hajiyeva be released to house arrest.
It was stated that Ilduza Hajiyeva’s children from an unofficial marriage are under her care, and if she remains in custody, the children will be placed in a shelter in Germany.
Furthermore, a request was made for the preliminary hearing to be conducted with an investigation.
The state prosecutor proposed that the motions be denied.
The court announced its decision. According to the decision, Ilduza Hajiyeva was released to house arrest. She has been prohibited from using social media (with the exception of communicating with her family on “WhatsApp”).
The court hearing is scheduled for July 31.
It should be noted that the incident occurred last June in the Mardakan settlement of the capital’s Khazar district. According to the information, while performing a turn with her car, Ilduza Hajiyeva pulled out in front of a car coming from behind at high speed, causing that vehicle to lose control and crash. As a result of the accident, one person died and another person was seriously injured.
A non-custodial preventive measure was chosen for Ilduza Hajiyeva, and she was charged under Articles 263.2 (violation of traffic rules or operation of vehicles – resulting in death) and 264 (leaving the scene of a traffic accident) of the Criminal Code.
According to the verdict of the Khazar District Court, Ilduza Hajiyeva was sentenced to 5 years and 2 months in prison, with the deprivation of the right to drive a vehicle for 2 years and 6 months.
She was arrested in the courtroom.
