The alert requested US citizens in the Middle East to remain vigilant and highly prepared, and to be ready for potential flight cancellations, temporary airspace closures, and disruptions that may arise in travel.
US citizens outside the Middle East were asked to reconsider traveling to and from the region, and the alert indicated that individuals and places associated with the US could be targeted.
To end the war that began with the attacks by the US and Israel on Iran, Washington and Tehran signed the Islamabad Accords on June 14, and this Accord provided for a 60-day negotiation period for a final agreement.
However, the US military launched new attacks against Iran on July 8, and Iran responded by targeting US bases in neighboring countries.
