The Shamakhi Astrophysical Observatory named after N. Tusi of the Ministry of Science and Education has released its latest forecast regarding space weather conditions.
The Observatory informed elchi that solar activity has currently weakened. It was noted that the strongest flare recorded was a C8.9 class flare in sunspot region 4491. Coronal mass ejections have also been observed on the Sun.
Currently, a total of 44 sunspots in 3 sunspot groups and a meridional coronal hole are observed on the Sun’s surface.
According to the information, the probability of a C-class flare is 65 percent, the probability of an M-class flare is 15 percent, and the probability of an X-class flare is only 1 percent.
Furthermore, the electron flux with energy greater than 2 MeV is forecast to be at moderate to high levels, while the proton flux with energy greater than 10 MeV is expected to remain at background levels.
The Observatory states that the speed of the solar wind will increase due to the influence of negative polarity coronal hole streams. Against this background, it is expected that the intensity of the geomagnetic field will rise to the G1 level, i.e., a minor geomagnetic storm, on July 22.
