“Azercell Telecom” LLC has launched a “Book Stop” in the center of Shusha to promote the city’s historical and literary environment, as well as to expand reading opportunities for residents and visitors.
The project, created based on an open-air library concept, was implemented in partnership with the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the Shusha City State Reserve Department, and “Aztelekom” LLC. In line with Azercell’s ESG strategy, the initiative is powered by solar energy and designed as an environmentally sustainable solution.
The “Book Stop” will operate 24/7. Shusha residents and visitors will be able to freely use the books provided there. To ensure digital accessibility, the kiosk is also equipped with free Wi-Fi. Additionally, visitors will be able to conveniently charge their mobile devices at dedicated charging stations.
The opening ceremony, held within the framework of the Vagif Poetry Days, was attended by Orkhan Fikratoglu, Advisor to the Minister of Culture of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Tural Novruzov, Executive Director of the Shusha City State Reserve Department, and Sona Abbasova, Director of the Corporate Communications Department at “Azercell Telecom” LLC. The first guest of the “Book Stop” was the People’s Poet Vahid Aziz.
Speaking at the event, Sona Abbasova stated: “Shusha, the cultural capital of Azerbaijan, has played a special role in the formation of literary and artistic thought and reading traditions in our country for centuries. We believe that the ‘Book Stop’, as an open and modern public space for everyone, will contribute to preserving Shusha’s rich reading culture and safeguarding our national-cultural heritage for future generations. This solar-powered project will also serve the sustainable development of the city by promoting a responsible attitude towards the environment.”
It should be noted that the “Book Stop” is located on Karabakh Street.
