16 people repatriated from Syria to Azerbaijan

As a result of phased and coordinated measures taken by the Government of the Republic of Azerbaijan, on July 18 and 19 of the current year, a total of 16 citizens of the Republic of Azerbaijan, including 7 women and 9 children, were repatriated from the Syrian Arab Republic to our country.

This was reported to “Elchi” by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

First of all, the location, identity, and citizenship of the Republic of Azerbaijan of the repatriates were determined.

Members of the Working Group consisting of state agencies responsible for the repatriation of citizens of the Republic of Azerbaijan who have faced crisis situations in foreign countries were sent to Syria, and initial medical and psychological examinations of the repatriates were ensured.

Subsequently, through the relevant coordination work carried out by the embassies of the Republic of Azerbaijan in the Syrian Arab Republic and the Republic of Turkey, as well as the Consulate General in Istanbul, our citizens were provided with return certificates to the Republic of Azerbaijan and airline tickets, and were brought to the country.

Relevant measures are planned to be implemented for the social rehabilitation and reintegration of the repatriates into society.

The Government of the Republic of Azerbaijan will continue to take necessary measures for the repatriation of citizens of the Republic of Azerbaijan who have become victims of armed conflict in the territories of foreign countries.
