5If Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu visits New York City in September to attend the UN General Assembly, he should be arrested for war crimes.
This was stated by New York City Council member Zohran Mamdani in an interview with The New York Times.
“I believe that Prime Minister Netanyahu should be tried in The Hague. He is a war criminal indicted by the International Criminal Court. And you will see that this is a sentiment shared by many due to the consequences of his actions over many years,” the New York official stated.
Nevertheless, Mamdani noted that as a public official, he would follow the laws in effect in New York.
He added that it is important for someone leading the city to adhere to the rule of law.
