Opening ceremony of Vagif Poetry Days held in Shusha

Today, the official opening ceremony of the Vagif Poetry Days, organized jointly by the Heydar Aliyev Foundation and the Ministry of Culture, took place in Shusha.

“Elchi” reports that the opening ceremony was attended by Minister of Culture Adil Karimli, the President’s special representative in Shusha district Aydin Karimov, representatives of the Azerbaijan Writers’ Union, and writers and poets from the Turkic world.

Speaking at the ceremony organized in front of the Molla Panah Vagif museum-mausoleum complex, Secretary General of TURKSOY Sultan Raev stated that the Vagif Poetry Days strengthen cultural ties among Turkic states.

People’s Poet Vahid Aziz emphasized the importance of the Vagif Poetry Days in terms of promoting Azerbaijani literature, preserving national and moral values, and strengthening the literary ties of the Turkic world.

Rashad Majid, Deputy Chairman of the Azerbaijan Writers’ Union, noted that the Turkic World Young Poets Festival, held within the framework of the Vagif Poetry Days, has already become a traditional platform. According to him, the festival not only brings together young poets from the Turkic world but also contributes to the strengthening of common literary values and cultural bonds.

Following this, the award ceremony for the winners of the Turkic World Young Poets Festival was held.

Within the framework of the program, a composition titled “Hunter of the Word – My Heart Passes Through Karabakh,” dedicated to the 120th anniversary of the birth of People’s Poet Samad Vurgun, was presented. The stage composition based on the “Vagif” drama was met with great interest by the audience.

The official part concluded with a musical performance.
