During the first 6 months of this year, 2,586 inspections were carried out in 2,254 enterprises, and non-compliance was identified in 1,963 enterprises.
elchi reports that this was stated by Ali Nabiyev, Deputy Chairman of the Food Safety Agency of Azerbaijan (AQTA), at a press conference on the results of AQTA’s activities for the first 6 months of 2026.
According to him, the activities of 316 enterprises where serious violations were detected have been restricted: “The activities of 95 enterprises that eliminated the violations have been restored. Nearly 1,600 tons, 450,000 liters, and 130,000 units of non-compliant products were destroyed, and 430 tons of products were utilized. More than 1 ton of non-compliant products were removed from retail networks. During the raids, 30.7 tons of meat of unknown origin and unfit for consumption, including 432 kilograms of horse meat, were destroyed.
AQTA’s Deputy Chairman noted that monitoring was conducted in 390 general education schools across the country, and violations of regulatory requirements were found in 263 of them.
He added that products with expired shelf lives or those prohibited for sale were immediately removed from sale, and the operations of 2 school cafeterias were restricted.
