Foreign Minister: The Patriotic War has created new realities, peace effectively exists with Armenia

The 44-day Patriotic War of the Azerbaijani people has created new realities and a new security format in the region.

elchi reports that Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov stated this at a joint press conference with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov in Moscow.

The Minister stated that this security format is based on the supremacy of international law: “The historical events that have taken place recently within the framework of the normalization process between Armenia and Azerbaijan, including the initialing of the peace agreement draft, create a unique opportunity for ensuring lasting peace, security, and prosperity in the region.”

Jeyhun Bayramov noted that during the discussions, he informed his Russian counterpart about the restoration and reconstruction work being carried out in the liberated territories, the process of the return of former internally displaced persons to their native lands, as well as the current state of the normalization process between Armenia and Azerbaijan: “It can be said with confidence that today, peace effectively exists between Armenia and Azerbaijan.”

The Minister emphasized that the positive and peace-oriented initiatives implemented by the Azerbaijani side, including confidence-building measures, have made a significant contribution to accelerating and advancing the normalization process between Armenia and Azerbaijan.

He added that the resolution of the remaining issues in the peace process will create the necessary conditions for long-term stability, security, and prosperity in the region.
