On July 17, 2026, a delegation led by the Minister of Economy of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Mikayil Jabbarov, paid a business visit to Uzbekistan.
“Elchi” reports that during the visit, Mikayil Jabbarov, together with the Minister of Investments, Industry and Trade of Uzbekistan, Laziz Kudratov, participated in the 15th meeting of the Joint Intergovernmental Commission on Cooperation between Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan.
During the meeting, views were exchanged on deepening trade and investment partnerships in accordance with the goals set by the heads of state of both countries, forming new production and value chains between Central Asia and the South Caucasus, developing transport and logistics links within the framework of the Middle Corridor, as well as expanding investment cooperation.
At the conclusion of the meeting, a protocol was signed providing for the strengthening of partnerships in economic-trade, energy, transport, agriculture, food security, healthcare, environmental protection, and other priority areas. Additionally, a Terms of Reference was signed regarding the establishment of a tripartite joint venture for conducting geological exploration works with the joint participation of “AzerGold” CJSC, “Uzbekgeologorazvedka” JSC, and the Azerbaijan-Uzbekistan Investment Company.
The Terms of Reference were signed by the Chairman of the Board of “AzerGold” CJSC Zakir İbrahimov, the Executive Director of the Azerbaijan-Uzbekistan Investment Company Nazim Hacıyev, and the Chairman of the Board of “Uzbekgeologorazvedka” JSC Şəmsiddin Alimov.
