The Ministry of Emergency Situations (MES) has issued an appeal to the public in connection with the unstable weather conditions expected in some regions.
According to the information provided to “Elchi” by the MES, the appeal states:
“According to the National Hydrometeorology Service, intensive rainfall is expected in some areas in the coming days, with short-term floods in some mountain rivers, lightning, and intermittent strong winds.
Taking the above into account, the Ministry of Emergency Situations once again reminds the public of the relevant safety rules.
Thus, to protect against floods and flash floods that may be caused by intensive rainfall, it is recommended to stay away from flood-prone areas and, if faced with this danger, to immediately move to higher ground.
At the same time, to protect against lightning-related hazards, it is necessary to disconnect electrical appliances from the network, avoid using telephones (landline, mobile, payphones, etc.), and while outdoors, stay away from power lines, lightning rods, gutters, and antennas, avoid taking shelter under tall trees, and choose relatively low-lying areas for this purpose. If in a vehicle, stop moving, roll up the windows, and wait for the lightning to pass.
In addition, during strong winds, it is recommended to stay away from light structures and temporary buildings, buildings and billboards, and not to stand under power poles, wires, or tall trees.
Also, considering the difficulties caused by strong winds in extinguishing fires, fire safety rules must be strictly observed during windy weather. Furthermore, considering that people head to beaches for recreation during the summer season, we remind you that it is dangerous to enter the sea in strong windy weather. Besides this, small vessel operators should note that going out to sea in such weather conditions is prohibited.
Remember: Indifference to the rules is a danger to our lives!
In case of danger, call 112!”
