As of June 1 of this year, the number of wage earners in the country was 1,790.6 thousand people, of whom 859.9 thousand worked in the public sector and 930.7 thousand in the private sector.

Of the wage earners, 18.6 percent were employed in trade and repair of vehicles, 18.1 percent in education, 13.8 percent in industry, 8.6 percent in human health and social work activities, 6.6 percent in construction, 6.1 percent in public administration and defense; social security, 4.4 percent in transport and storage, 4.0 percent in professional, scientific and technical activities, 2.4 percent in financial and insurance activities, 2.3 percent in agriculture, forestry and fishing, and 15.1 percent in other sectors of the economy.
In January-May of the current year, the average monthly nominal salary of wage earners in the country increased by 7.3 percent compared to the corresponding period of the previous year and amounted to 1,175 manats.
