The Iranian leadership has begun the process of returning 55 fishermen detained in UAE waters in the spring, 25 of whom have already been brought back to the Islamic Republic.
“Elchi” reports that the Iranian Embassy in the Emirates has released information regarding this matter.
According to the embassy, 14 people have already returned to the country by ship via the Bastak port. In addition, after receiving the necessary documents for their return, another 11 people arrived in Iran via Dubai-Mashhad flights.
The Iranian diplomatic mission recalled that these fishermen were detained during the first months of Iran’s war with the US and Israel. The main reason cited is a malfunction in the navigation systems, which resulted in the Iranians entering UAE territorial waters.
