The number of people who lost their lives in the two major earthquakes that occurred in Venezuela on June 24 has reached 4,490.
“Elchi” reports that the President of the National Assembly (AN) of Venezuela, Jorge Rodriguez, made statements regarding the earthquakes on social media.
Rodriguez stated that the number of deaths in the disaster increased by 157, reaching 4,490, and the number of injured is 16,740.
Rodriguez noted that humanitarian aid has been delivered to 120,794 families following the earthquakes, and the number of temporary tent cities established in La Guaira, Caracas, and Miranda states, where the most losses occurred, has reached 108.
According to national media, the Venezuelan government announced that it has started biometric population census studies to accurately determine housing needs following the earthquake disaster.
The government expects that, according to preliminary assessments, there may be a need for the construction of approximately 25,000 new homes.
