The car index for June of this year, released by the Azerbaijan Appraisers Society (AAS), shows that price stability is being maintained in the country’s car market, while trends toward renewal in the market structure are strengthening.
The Society informed elchi that the car index stood at 103.5 points in June. Although the indicator shows that the price level remains higher compared to the base period of December 2025, it has decreased by 0.6% compared to May. According to the Society’s assessment, this dynamic does not indicate a sharp decline in the market, but rather the continuation of price stabilization and balancing.
During the reporting period, the median sales price was 17,900 AZN, which has not changed significantly compared to the previous month. The slight decrease recorded in the average price is explained by the entry of lower-priced cars into the market and changes in the sales structure. It is noted that since the median price is considered the most accurate indicator reflecting real price dynamics in the market according to international valuation methodologies, the overall price level remained stable in June.
In June, second-hand cars accounted for 91.8% of the market. The AAS attributes this to consumers preferring more accessible price segments, as well as the prices of new cars and financing opportunities. In the market’s model structure, sedans maintained their lead with a 46.3% share. The share of SUVs and crossovers rose to 26.9%, continuing an upward trend.
According to the Society’s assessment, this dynamic shows an increasing interest from buyers in more functional, safe, and comfortable cars, especially models intended for family use. The average age of cars offered for sale was 14.7 years, and the average production year was 2011. These indicators emphasize that the average age of the country’s vehicle fleet is still high and the renewal process is continuing gradually.
In June, the average mileage of cars offered for sale was slightly over 210,000 kilometers. This figure, which is lower compared to previous months, indicates that less-used cars are entering the market and is considered one of the factors positively affecting the technical condition and market value of the cars.
In the reporting month, the number of active sales advertisements decreased from 43,318 to 41,192. The approximately 4.9% decline is mainly explained by seasonal factors. The AAS believes that the relative weakening of sales activity with the start of the summer season has not significantly affected the overall liquidity of the market, and the competitive environment in the market has been maintained.
According to the Society’s forecast, against the background of current trends, no significant price changes are expected in the car market during the summer months of this year. The Car Index is projected to fluctuate in the 103-105 point range.
It should be noted that the AAS prepares indices for the real estate, automotive, and construction sectors every month and publishes analytical reports reflecting the state of the market.
