IMF: Global economy to grow by more than 3% in 2027

The International Monetary Fund (IMF) forecasts that global GDP will grow by 3% by the end of 2026 and by 3.4% in 2027.

elchi reports that this is stated in the organization’s report on the development prospects of the world economy.

According to the document, the forecast for global economic growth has been reduced by 0.1 percentage points compared to the optimistic scenario presented in April. The forecast for 2027 has been increased by 0.2 percentage points.

The fund’s analysts noted that the moderate weakening of global GDP growth is related to the impact of the war in the Middle East.

“While risks to global economic growth appear more balanced than in April, they remain tilted to the downside. One of the main risks is the possibility of a resurgence of conflict in the Middle East. This could lead to long-term volatility in commodity prices, new disruptions in supply chains, price increases, and a tightening of financial conditions.

A renewed increase in geopolitical tensions could negatively affect economic growth and strengthen inflationary pressures. At the same time, a faster-than-expected recovery of shipping in the Strait of Hormuz and a decline in commodity prices to levels lower than projected could accelerate economic growth and reduce inflation.”
