Meeting held on updating the classification of specialties in vocational education

On July 8, the Ministry of Science and Education hosted the second meeting of the Working Group established to update the “Classification of Specialties in Vocational Education”.

The meeting, chaired by Deputy Minister of Science and Education and head of the Working Group Kanan Karimzade, was attended by representatives from the Ministry of Science and Education, the State Agency for Vocational Education, the Institute of Education, the Ministry of Economy, the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of the Population, and the State Tourism Agency.

Opening the meeting, Kanan Karimzade stated that updating the classification of vocational education specialties is of great importance for forming a flexible and modern vocational education system that meets the changing demands of the labor market. He emphasized that the discussions held during the first meeting and the proposals submitted by the relevant agencies have made a significant contribution to improving the project.

Subsequently, Sabina Babayeva, sector head at the Department of Science, Higher and Vocational Education, delivered a presentation providing detailed information on the changes made to the project based on the opinions and proposals voiced during the first meeting, as well as those received from relevant government agencies. During the presentation, the updated structure of the project, the alignment of specialty areas with current and future labor market demands, the inclusion of new professions in the classification, and efforts to ensure compliance with international practices were brought to the attention of the participants.

Within the framework of the meeting, members of the working group held extensive discussions on the project, voicing opinions and proposals regarding more effective grouping of vocational education specialties, ensuring terminological consistency, and reflecting newly emerging professional areas in the classification.

Finally, the next stages, upcoming tasks, and the action plan for finalizing the project were discussed. The members of the working group agreed to continue the discussions, emphasizing the importance of completing the project in accordance with labor market development trends and international approaches.
