Canada to provide a $900 million aid package to Ukraine

Canada has provided a new support package worth 900 million US dollars, which includes aid to Ukraine, particularly in the field of air defense (AD).

elchi reports that this was stated by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky following his meeting with Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney in Ankara.

“Thank you for your support of the PURL program. Right now, perhaps our biggest shortage is air defense, and we have received a large package from Canada. We are very grateful for this,” Zelensky said.

According to the Ukrainian leader, the support package is particularly important at a time when Ukraine needs to strengthen its defense against Russian missile attacks.

Carney noted that Canada’s aid is intended for the medium term and, in addition to air defense assistance, will include the supply of military equipment, ammunition, and other support.

“This is aid for the medium term. By medium term, I mean the next few months,” the Canadian Prime Minister stated.

He emphasized that Canada will continue to strengthen Ukraine’s air defense system and contribute to the PURL program.

During the meeting, Zelensky and Carney also discussed the creation of a Bank in the fields of defense, security, and resilience.
