From July 15 to August 30, the Milli Majlis goes on vacation twice a year – from July 15 to August 30 and from January 1 to 15. During this period, deputies are also considered to be on vacation. Only when an extraordinary session of the parliament is called, the vacation of the Milli Majlis is suspended for the duration of the extraordinary session, and the deputies are recalled from vacation for that period.
So, where and how do the deputies plan to spend their vacation? Are they thinking of resting in Azerbaijan or abroad during this period?
elchi reports that Lent.az conducted a survey among the members of parliament.
Member of the Milli Majlis Hikmat Babaoğlu stated to Lent.az that he will travel to both the liberated territories and Turkey during his vacation:
“Like in recent years, I will spend my summer vacation in the liberated territories this year as well. I will go to Shusha. While staying in Shusha, I will visit other districts every day, such as Aghdere, Lachin, Khojaly, Kalbajar, Hadrut, Gubadly. I had planned my vacation schedule like this last year too. This kind of rest gives me pleasure, brings psychological comfort, and pleases my sense of national pride.
After visiting the beautiful places of Azerbaijan, I will travel to the brotherly country – the city of Kars in Turkey. There are villages from Kars towards the Armenian border that are 7 km away from the village where I was born. The nature, grass, plants, insects, and birds of the geography where I was born soothe my soul. For hours, I take my binoculars, look at the geography where I was born, and observe what has been destroyed and what remains… I ask myself the question of when I will go to those lands, to my Homeland, and I fall into deep thought. Spiritually, I feel that the mountains, stones, grass, and insects remaining in our villages, our lands, and our homes are calling us. This both causes internal pain and ignites hope in me to return to our lands in the future. My vacation this summer will probably end with this.”
Member of the Milli Majlis Razi Nurullayev noted to Lent.az that he will be in Azerbaijan during the vacation:
“I will spend the vacation in the country. I like the districts and villages very much. Mainly, I intend to visit interesting villages of Azerbaijan.”
Member of the Milli Majlis Vugar Rahimzade stated in response to Lent.az’s inquiry that he will be in Azerbaijan during the vacation period:
“During the summer vacation, I will be in Baku and mainly in the Ordubad-Julfa district, in the territory of the 6th electoral district where I was elected as a deputy, and at the same time in the Saltak village of the Julfa district where I was born. During this time, I will both meet with voters and visit the villages.
I will not spend my vacation in a foreign country, but in the beautiful, scenic places of Azerbaijan, in Nakhchivan, Ordubad, Julfa, and Baku. I also plan to head to the scenic places of our country for a short period, about three to five days, and visit historical sites.”
Member of the Milli Majlis Jeyhun Mammadov noted that he will go on a one-week vacation after finishing his work:
“I don’t have a concrete plan for rest yet. There are articles to be written and a lot of work to be done. We are currently busy with them. It is possible that we will take a vacation for a week either within the country or abroad. I believe that there are many beautiful places to visit and see in Azerbaijan. One can go to Kalbajar, Lachin, Guba, Zagatala, Sheki. I would recommend that Azerbaijani citizens visit all our districts. I recommend visiting Shusha, Khankendi, Jabrayil, Zangilan, Gubadly, and Lachin. At the same time, Guba, Khinalig, Gakh, and Goygol are among our fascinating regions.”
Member of the Milli Majlis Zahid Oruj stated that he plans to spend his vacation in Guba with his close family members:
“We have not prepared a special vacation plan for 2026. We always spend our vacation in our quiet regions with Azerbaijan’s rich nature, healing waters, and delicious fruits. The region we usually go to is Guba. We are there together with our close family members. Our plan for this year is also in this direction. Undoubtedly, it is difficult to work well and achieve great goals without resting well. On the other hand, to be honest, in the first ten years of being a member of Parliament, I never allowed myself a vacation regime. Because the specific demands and concerns of the region I represented were always before us. At the same time, we must consider that human life, its biology, is subject to its own requirements and laws. In that respect, we are not thinking of going abroad. Together with my close family members, we are thinking of heading to Guba and other villages and districts. We call on every Azerbaijani to appreciate the rich nature within our country.”
Member of the Milli Majlis Fazil Mustafa stated that he will spend his vacation in Azerbaijan:
“I spend my vacation entirely in Azerbaijan. It is possible that I might travel abroad as well. There is no concept of a pre-planned vacation because we continue to work in the summer as well. I mostly stay in Baku and use the sea, especially continuing certain health-related procedures. However, it is possible that I might go to the districts or a foreign country. Honestly, I haven’t determined it exactly yet, I don’t have a private vacation schedule.”
Member of the Milli Majlis Fariz Ismayilzade stated that he will spend his summer vacation in the country.
