Starting today, the retirement age for women in Azerbaijan has been increased.
elchi reports that the retirement age for women has been raised to 65, equalizing it with the retirement age for men.
The age limit for men provided for in Article 7 of the Law “On Labor Pensions” is increased by 6 months each year starting from July 1, 2017, to July 1, 2021, and the age limit for women is increased by 6 months each year starting from July 1, 2017, to July 1, 2027.
It should be noted that, according to Article 7 of the Law “On Labor Pensions”, a person who has reached the retirement age has the right to an old-age labor pension if the pension capital recorded in the insurance part of their individual account allows for a pension provision not less than the minimum amount of the labor pension, regardless of the insurance period; if it does not allow for this, they must have at least 25 years of insurance period (excluding persons who were granted an old-age labor pension before July 1, 2017).
Based on insurance indicators, the amount of the pension is determined in accordance with the pension capital accumulated in the individual account. The minimum pension amount is 320 manats. Old-age labor pensions are granted for life.
We remind you that the retirement age for women was last increased by 6 months last year, from July 1, 2025, to 64 years and 6 months. This figure was valid until June 30, 2026.
