According to the National Hydrometeorological Service, the rainy weather observed in a number of regions is expected to continue until the evening of June 28. In some areas, including Baku and the Absheron Peninsula, heavy rain is forecast from the night of June 27 to June 28, with potential flooding in some vulnerable areas, short-term floods and overflows in mountain rivers, lightning, and intermittent strong winds.
elchi reports that, taking the above into account, the Ministry of Emergency Situations has once again reminded the public of the relevant safety rules.
Thus, to protect against flooding, as well as flash floods and overflows that may be caused by intensive rainfall, it is recommended to stay away from dangerous areas, immediately move to higher ground if faced with such a threat, and strictly follow the calls and recommendations of rescuers.
At the same time, to protect against lightning-related dangers, it is necessary to disconnect electrical appliances from the network, avoid using phones (landline, mobile, payphone, etc.), avoid approaching power lines, lightning rods, gutters, and antennas while outdoors, avoid sheltering under tall trees and instead choose relatively low-lying areas, and if in a vehicle, stop moving, roll up the windows, and wait for the lightning to pass.
In addition, during strong winds, it is recommended to stay away from light structures and temporary buildings, billboards and advertising signs, and not to stand under power poles, wires, or tall trees.
Also, considering the difficulties caused by strong winds in extinguishing fires, fire safety rules must be strictly observed during windy weather. Furthermore, considering that people head to beaches for recreation during the summer season, we remind you that it is dangerous to enter the sea during strong windy weather. Besides this, small vessel operators should note that going out to sea in such weather conditions is prohibited.
Remember: Indifference to the rules is a threat to our lives!
In case of danger, call 112!
