In Spain, 327 people died between Sunday and Thursday due to high temperatures. However, the heatwave in the country has already begun to weaken.
In Switzerland, scientists monitoring glaciers have stated that all snow and ice accumulated during the winter season is expected to melt by Monday. Usually, this occurs in August. According to the scientists, the current melting rate of the glaciers is comparable to the record-breaking melting rate observed in 2022.
