These metro stations will have elevators

By 2030, the construction of 10 new stations is planned. Construction of one of them has already begun. This is the station conditionally named “B-04”, located behind the former “Semashko” hospital.

elchi reports that this was stated by Bakhtiyar Mammadov, press secretary of Baku Metro CJSC, during a public discussion held within the framework of the “Road traffic safety: rights and duties” and “Pedestrian safety in modern urban planning” projects.

“New principles will also be applied at that station. Technical equipment work has already begun. Escalators, elevators, and special-purpose stairs will be installed for inter-level passages. All these are provided in accordance with regulatory requirements and are based on modern standards to the maximum extent.

Currently, work is underway on the design of 9 more stations. Certain contradictions are observed between international experts and the requirements of international standards and existing Azerbaijani standards, as well as norms remaining from the Soviet era. I believe that our standards should be revised. Today, the root of most of the problems faced by pedestrians lies precisely in standards and infrastructure.

It is planned to start construction work next year, with five stations on the purple line and four stations on the green line,” he said.
