Zelensky: No one can defend Poland without Ukraine; it is impossible.
elchi reports that President Volodymyr Zelensky stated that “no one can defend Poland” without Ukraine. His words were quoted by the TSN television channel.
The head of state claims that it is “simply impossible” without Ukraine. The politician believes that without Ukraine, there will be no protected Poland.
In this regard, Zelensky noted that Kyiv cannot simply remain a partner or friend of Warsaw on its own. Hatred in the societies of neighboring countries will lead to higher ratings, but political struggle carries the risk of ending in a very “unpleasant escalation.”
“One cannot gain political dividends from hatred,” Zelensky said.
Relations between Warsaw and Kyiv deteriorated after Polish President Karol Nawrocki stripped his Ukrainian counterpart Volodymyr Zelensky of the republic’s highest award, the Order of the White Eagle. Nawrocki took this step because a brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine was named after Nazi collaborators who carried out the Volhynia massacre.
The Polish government stated that “only Moscow will benefit” from the president’s decision. In Ukraine, this move was criticized, and in a sign of solidarity with Zelensky, diplomats, the leader’s chief of staff, and former presidents Leonid Kuchma, Viktor Yushchenko, and Petro Poroshenko renounced their Polish awards. The Ukrainian counterpart returned his order to Nawrocki by mail.
