Use of these beaches has been prohibited

The use of a number of beaches in Baku, Lankaran, and Khachmaz has been prohibited.

elchi reports that the Ministry of Health has released information regarding this matter.

It was stated that, based on the results of laboratory tests, it was determined that sea water samples taken from certain areas did not meet the requirements of current sanitary norms and regulations in terms of chemical and microbiological indicators.

During the monitoring, deviations from normative requirements in sea water quality indicators were recorded in the beaches located in the Turkan settlement of Khazar district, Hovsan of Surakhani district, Shikh of Sabail district, Sahil of Garadagh district in Baku, as well as in the Ashagi Nuvedi settlement, Sutamurdov village, Kichik Bazar residential area of Lankaran city, and the Niyazoba area of Khachmaz district, due to the contamination of sanitary protection zones with waste and sewage water.

Taking the current situation into account and for the purpose of protecting public health, in accordance with the Law “On Sanitary-Epidemiological Safety,” the Republican Center for Hygiene and Epidemiology has decided to temporarily restrict the use of sea water for swimming at the beaches located in the mentioned areas, as well as at illegal beach areas within those zones.

The Baku City Executive Power, Lankaran City Executive Power, Khachmaz District Executive Power, relevant police authorities, the Ministry of Emergency Situations and its regional bodies, as well as the relevant structures of the State Water Resources Agency of Azerbaijan have been informed regarding the implementation of these decisions.
