On June 18, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Jeyhun Bayramov, met with the National Security Advisor to the President of Romania, Marius-Gabriel Lazurka.
According to the information provided to elchi by the MFA, the current state and development prospects of the strategic partnership relations between Azerbaijan and Romania, as well as regional security issues, were discussed during the meeting.
The parties emphasized that the high-level reciprocal visits and intensive political dialogue carried out in recent years have made a significant contribution to the development of bilateral relations. The importance of the activities of the Joint Commission on trade-economic relations and scientific-technical cooperation between the Government of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Government of Romania was noted in terms of expanding cooperation.
At the meeting, it was stated that the energy sector is one of the main directions of Azerbaijan-Romania cooperation, and in addition to traditional energy, opportunities for developing partnerships in green energy and alternative energy sources were reviewed. The potential for expanding cooperation in transport-communication, education, pharmaceuticals, and other fields, as well as the promotion of mutual investments, were discussed.
Minister Jeyhun Bayramov provided information about the favorable investment climate in our country and highlighted the opportunities created for investors. In this context, the growing role of the Alat Free Economic Zone as a regional trade and logistics hub was mentioned, and the opportunities for Romanian companies to operate there were noted.
The parties emphasized the importance of mutual cooperation within the framework of international organizations, including in the context of cooperation with the European Union.
During the meeting, an exchange of views also took place on other bilateral and regional issues.
