Armenia is effectively not participating in any of the activities of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO).
elchi reports that this was stated by CSTO Deputy Secretary General Taalatbek Masadikov.
“Armenia has not been paying its membership fees for three years now. De facto, it is practically not participating, but de jure, it is a full member of the CSTO. However, the decision, of course, rests with the Armenian people and the leadership of Armenia,” he said while answering a question from TASS.
Masadikov noted that the CSTO member states are discussing the country’s situation and the deprivation of its voting rights due to the non-payment of membership fees.
“Yes, this issue is being discussed. Recently, a meeting of the Council of Foreign Ministers was held in Kazan, where the foreign ministers discussed this matter in detail,” he said.
