Apple is preparing to increase product prices due to a sharp rise in the cost of memory chips it uses. The company’s CEO, Tim Cook, stated that price hikes have now become “inevitable”.
elchi reports that Apple’s outgoing CEO, Tim Cook, stated in an interview with the Wall Street Journal (WSJ) that the current situation regarding memory chips has reached an “unsustainable” point and that price increases are inevitable.
Cook did not provide detailed information on when the price hikes will take effect or which products will be covered. It is also unknown whether the iPhone 18 series, expected to be introduced in September, will be affected by these increases.
Cook, who is expected to hand over his position to John Ternus in September after 15 years in office, said, “At a time when consumer demand for devices is high, supply is not sufficient. Memory manufacturers are also implementing very significant price increases.”
