Shoigu: Russia and Turkey did their best for the Istanbul agreement

Shoigu: Western countries prevented the implementation of the Istanbul agreement in 2022.
“Elchi” Citing TASS, the Secretary of the Security Council of Russia, Sergei Shoigu, stated during a meeting with Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan that Moscow and Ankara had done everything in their power to ensure the implementation of the 2022 Istanbul agreement regarding Ukraine, but the West hindered it.
Shoigu said: “The Istanbul agreement was prepared jointly at that time. If it were not for the interference of the West, we would have had every opportunity to complete this work.”
He emphasized that at that time, both Russia and Turkey made every effort to prepare the Istanbul agreement and ensure its subsequent implementation. On June 5, the Speaker of the Georgian Parliament, Shalva Papuashvili, stated that former British Prime Minister Boris Johnson disrupted the peace agreement between Ukraine and Russia in 2022, yet he continues to travel and hold conferences to this day.
In May, Russian President Vladimir Putin recalled that after the Istanbul agreements were reached between Moscow and Kyiv in 2022, Johnson came to Ukraine and told the country’s authorities that the treaty with the Russian side should not be signed because, according to claims, it was unfair.
