Another country bans social media for children: “Artificial intelligence” detail caught attention

A bill banning children under 16 from using social media platforms has been submitted to the Parliament in Canada.
elchi reports that Canadian Heritage Minister Mark Miller, who submitted the bill to Parliament, stated that the bill, called the “Safe Social Media Act,” aims to ensure that social media services and artificial intelligence chatbots take preventive measures before harm occurs.
Miller said: “As technology evolves, we must ensure our laws keep pace, because parents cannot handle these challenges alone. Children’s safety should not be an afterthought.”
According to this law, artificial intelligence chatbots will be responsible for preventing the spread of harmful content and mitigating harm during crises.
In addition, social media services will be banned for those under 16, but they may be exempt from this ban if they take necessary child safety measures.
